Tanya calls Anthony and when he comes outside, Megan enters the kitchen. As Tanya tries to talk to her sister, a bird crashes through the window, causing Tanya to go look on the balcony when Megan locks her in. After their quarrel and the return of their eldest daughter Tanya from work, everyone in the family goes about their business - James drinks beer and watches TV, Anne takes a bath, eldest son Dennis puts his record collection in the attic, youngest son Anthony puts the kettle on the stove and Tanya goes to check on Megan in her room.
Spouses James and Anne quarrel again over the former's problems at the factory and the behavior of their youngest daughter, Megan. The Clarke family spends the day in a tense atmosphere.
